Andrea Arlotta is a robotics researcher at the Robotics & Autonomous Systems unit of the Department of Mechanics of the Belgian Royal Military Academy, where he focuses on perception, informative path planning, and multi-robot systems for real-world field robotics.
He earned a National Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence (Agrifood & Environment) from the University of Naples Federico II (https://www.phd-ai.it/ ), with a dissertation on “Smart Vehicles for Active Monitoring in Precision Agriculture Settings.”
Andrea holds an M.Sc. in Robotics Engineering from the University of Genoa, where his thesis delivered an autonomous robot for weeding in rice cultivation; earlier, he completed a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering with a thesis on presence andcybersickness in VR.
Beyond academia, Andrea bridges research and industry: he developed HMI interfaces at ALTEN/IMA T&T, worked as a robotics engineer at Vitibot and Arvatec on precision-agriculture robots, and built avionics-grade microcontroller software at Brancaro Industries.
